Residents of Tal Abyad Protest Deteriorating Security Conditions and Rise in Kidnappings and Robberies

Residents of the city of Tal Abyad in northern Raqqa countryside, within areas under “Operation Peace Spring” control, held a protest on Monday morning to denounce the deteriorating security situation in the region, particularly incidents of kidnapping, robbery, and assaults against civilians.

Protesters carried banners emphasizing that “the dignity of education begins with respect for teachers,” describing the humiliation of teachers as a crime and calling for justice to be served.

The demonstration came in the wake of the kidnapping of a schoolteacher in the city while he was on his way to work, after being taken by unidentified individuals to an unknown location. The incident has raised growing concerns about the surge in kidnappings and violations in the area.

In a separate incident, a civilian was assaulted and robbed by unidentified assailants on Sunday evening while returning home, according to sources from the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. The attackers reportedly beat him and stole the money he was carrying before fleeing the scene.

Tal Abyad and other areas under the control of factions of the “Syrian National Army” continue to experience a state of security chaos, manifested in repeated incidents of theft, armed attacks, and assassinations, amid the absence of effective measures to curb these violations and improve the security situation.
