Sources from Sham Network reported that an international coalition drone struck a residential house on the outskirts of Khan Sheikhoun city in southern rural Idlib on Sunday, September 28, killing Hashim Raslan, originally from the town of At-Tamanah and a former ISIS cadre.
This strike is part of a series of targeted operations conducted by the coalition against ISIS leaders and members in northern and western Syria, aiming to prevent the group from reorganizing and carrying out future attacks.
On Friday, September 19, 2025, the U.S. Central Command announced the killing of another senior ISIS official in rural Hama, confirming that these operations are designed to disrupt the organization’s ability to plan and execute attacks threatening the United States and its allies.
In an official statement, the U.S. Central Command declared that its forces will not relent in pursuing terrorists who seek to attack American forces or their partners, praising the efforts of fighters and the support provided during these operations.
Local sources indicated that the strike in Khan Sheikhoun was carried out via an approximately half-hour-long air assault, amid heightened security alertness from internal security forces. This escalation follows previous operations in Atmeh and Al-Bab in northern Aleppo, which resulted in the killing of prominent ISIS leaders and members of their families.
These moves reflect ongoing security and intelligence cooperation between the international coalition and Iraq, signaling intensified efforts against ISIS remnants in northern Syria despite their diminished territorial control.
